The Public Baths

Address

Strada Mihai Viteazul 20, Craiova, Romania

About

The building is located on Mihai Viteazul Street in Craiova and was built in 1880, opposite to the Carol I High School.
For a long time, in this place functioned the Public Baths. At the end of the 19th and early 20th centuries was fashionable that in every big city existed a building in which the Public Baths would be housed. Few homes had their own bathrooms, therefore a lot of people came here.
Even King Carol I was loyal to this place, and every time he went through Craiova he stopped to make a hot bath at the Public Baths.
The building was reclaimed, but the current owner did not make any investments and the building, declared a historic monument, remained derelict.
