The 2023-2024 season of the "Marin Sorescu" National Theatre is underway and a lot of pleasant surprises await us, if we decide to cross the threshold of one of the most famous cultural institutions in Craiova.
With more than 170 years of history, which continues to be written today with the same pride, with a perfect combination of young actors and those with vast experience on stage, the Craiova National brought its audience closer and closer lately, through new, fresh productions, full of metaphor, beauty and perfectly complemented by a perfect acting game.
Only in the month of November, we tell you that you can see performances such as "Năpasta", directed by Kinkses Elemer, "Anomalia", a play directed by Natasza Soltanowicz, "Gândește-te la Africa", directed by Alexandru Boureanu, "gen. snowflake", a performance by the students of the Faculty of Theater of the "Babeș-Bolyai" University in Cluj, directed by Mihai Gligan and Tudor Antofie and "Zăpezile de altădată", by Mircea Cornișteanu.
In December, as a crowning of the year that is about to end, we can go to the theatre to see "Casa cu suricate" or "câine cu om. câine fără om ", both directed by Radu Afrim, "Femeia mării ", by Andriy Zholdak, for which the actress Costinela Ungureanu was awarded by UNITER with the Award for the best actress in a leading role, or "Oedip Rege", directed by the great Declan Donnellan.

We cannot talk about the Craiova National Theatre without also telling you that a wonderful year is ahead for Craiova and not only! 2024 brings a new edition of the "Shakespeare" International Festival, between May 16 and 26, celebrating 30 years of excellence, under the slogan "Yes, we Will!". So, Craiova will become, once again, as it does every two years, the capital of world theatre that faithfully serves one of the most appreciated playwrights on the planet, William Shakespeare.
Also in the words of the great Shakespeare, "the whole world is a stage and all the people are actors", we invite you to the theatre in as large a number as possible, to be actors in this magical universe built for us, here, at home!
